Food is a Passport is a hands-on, culturally enriched nutrition and culinary camp designed for students who love food, cooking, learning and trying new things. During this multi-day experience, students will "travel" to different regions of the world; exploring the flavors, ingredients, and food traditions that make each culture unique. Participants will learn kitchen skills, taste-test foods, learn how cultural identity influences diet, and prepare simple, healthy dishes inspired by global cuisines. Throughout the camp, students will also learn about balanced nutrition, mindful eating, and how to make connections between food, culture, science and health. | This two-day interactive camp introduces middle school and high school students to the world of dietetics and nutrition. Through hands-on activities, mini simulations, real-world case scenarios, and conversations with practicing dietitians, students will explore what it means to work in the field of nutrition and health. Participants will learn how dietitians make a difference in hospitals, schools, sports, community programs, food service management and private practice. Students will learn how to prepare nutritious foods using different culinary techniques. The camp is designed to be engaging, practical, and inspiring; helping students who are curious about food, science and helping others understand how these interests can grow into a rewarding career.
